Villa Ucci

Villa Ucci

Glimpses of paradise and a sense of authenticity

Villa Ucci was built in the early 1900’s and has been in our family for over four generations. It has always been a place where we could spend special moments together, reconnect with nature and enjoy the rare beauty and breathtaking views of Lake Como.

In recent years I have decided to give Villa Ucci new life and vigor, opening our family home to guests who want to enjoy and share our special hideaway while being surrounded by nature but also very close to lake attractions and activities.

I fell in love with this house as child when I would come here to visit my grandmother. She not only imparted the wisdom that only a nonna can, but she taught me the value of caring for others and for nature. I wish to practice those teachings by offering excellent service and hospitality to my guests here at Villa Ucci. My goal is to make Villa Ucci a welcoming accommodation at Lake Como.

Villa Ucci is located in the small, lakeside town of Onno, picturesquely sitting at the foot of the cliff stones of “Sasso di Onno” opposite the Grigna mountain and the village of Mandello del Lario where the historical factory of Moto Guzzi resides.

Bellagio considered “The pearl of the lake” is literally just around the bend, 8 km down the road. Bellagio is well known for its spectacular views, cobble stoned streets with boutique shopping and cozy wine bars and bistros.

Bellagio is the central point of the lake and an excellent starting point for visiting the lakeside cities such as Como, Lecco or Colico.

I highly recommend visiting Varenna where you can enjoy a walk in the gardens of Villa Monastero. Or visit Corenno Plinio known for its medieval castle. At the Abbey of Piona, monks live in silence while working on making liqueurs and candies of locally grown herbs following an ancient recipe. By ferry from Bellagio to Menaggio you can also easily reach Switzerland.

Lake Como is culturally and artistically rich as well. The Villa Balbianello, an opulent seventeenth century residence, located on a small promontory opposite Bellagio can be visited with the national trust, FAI, which regards it amongst its “places of the heart”.

In the evenings, glam-up for an night-out at a local restaurant or lido club or spend the evening relaxing in the garden.

Finally, for those who love outdoor activities, I recommend the long panoramic walking itinerary Onno – Valbrona – Ghisallo – Bellagio.

This is my land, my life, my corner of authentic paradise.

Welcome to Villa Ucci, welcome home,

Danilo
